It had taken long enough, but the school day was finally over. Sure, there was still cheerleading practice to get through, but compared to the math class that she had just left, the sport was like a luxury vacation. There was something about math and Aura that did not mesh well together, and in all honesty, she was surprised she hadn't been kept late again. She'd come close to failing another quiz and the threat of a D seemed to be very real at that point.
She sighed as the doors open and she stepped out into the warm California sun. Were it not for practice, she probably would have gone to the beach, but instead she found herself traversing the parking lot until she came upon the silver mass that had been her birthday present the year before. Aura had always shown a love for classic cars. She knew nothing about how they worked, but they were definitely pretty and the '65 Mustang that she had received was fitting. As much as she wanted to jump in and go, Aura made her way to the trunk in search of the gym bag she knew was tucked away in its depths.
Aura snagged the bag, tossing in her backpack to take its place. She snapped the trunk shut, setting the gym bag on the ground next to her and leaning casually against the side of her vehicle. If she were wearing anything but the short denim skirt she had grabbed in her rush this morning, perhaps she would have settled onto the back to watch the comings and goings of her classmates as they milled around before leaving, but the idea of being that close to exposed was not an appealing one at all. It certainly hadn't worked for Britney Spears, anyway.
With a slight frown, Aura snatched her bag up again and headed back toward the school. She'd never been quite so bored, at least not so immediately after school, and it made her wonder where her friends had gotten off to. As much as she hated to admit it, it sometimes made her happy to not run into them, but today was definitely not one of those days.
