it's funny sometimes how you know you really want to sleep but then for some reason later that night when you're in your bed, you can't sleep at all. that was christian's problem and as he sat up in bed in his room, silently fingering the notes on his guitar to pass the time of his restless night.
is eyes were sore and he couldn't really feel the muscles in his face anymore, but still christian stared at the strings of his base and watched his fingers touch them, but not make any sound as to not wake his stepparents. christian hadn't noticed yet, but the sun had already come up slightly, meaning it was almost saturday morning. christian smiled as he peeked through his bedroom blinds and saw light appearing in the sky. he put down his guitar and went to get dressed.
it was nothing too fancy, just a casual long sleeve tee shirt and a pair of jeans that had worn slightly in some places, but without a noise, christian opened the front door to his house, stepped out into the morning air and closed it silently behind him. the walk to the local cafe in town was about a half an hour's walk but it was a cool day and he needed to get some air anyway. when christian finally got inside the small cafe he went up and smiled to the lady working at the counter. "one americano grandee please" he said as he waited patiently for his coffee.

Emma raised a slender hand to her mouth as she let out a soft yawn, sighing softly as her eyes shut for a moment, obviously tired. Who wouldn't be? This is probably the earliest anyone had seen her up, but it was nice. Quiet. She couldn't sleep, things were on her mind. So she came to the cafe, which was extremely peaceful at this time of day. Textbooks were piled around the female but her art history book was pulled in front of her, looking over some paintings for a test coming up.
At the moment, she was dressed extremely casually, simply because she didn't think she'd see anyone there. A pair of sweat pants fell from low on her hips in a heather gray color, slightly rolled up at the hips and fell over black low top converse on her small feet. Covering her slender torso was a baby blue tank top, tight and thin, clinging to her form. Her long, blonde locks were tied into a side ponytail over her left shoulder, bangs pushed to the right. She let a small smile appear on her full lips as she spotted Christian, getting up and walking over towards him, bumping her hip with his own playfully.
"You're up early." She remarked with a half-smile, biting down on her lower lip as she leaned against the counter beside him. She'd already gotten her food - about half of a scone and a cup of tea was on the table that she'd claimed as her own, along with the love seat she'd taken over.

christian was standing and leaning against the counter with his elbows upon it when something bumped into his hip unexpectedly. he turned his head and noticed a small blonde girl standing next to her and smiled when he noticed the girl was emma stone. he grinned as he stood by her as she spoke up. "well, so are you." he smiled, speaking with his london accent."i couldn't sleep." he said with a glance towards the tables behind them. one of them, he noticed, was stacked by books. textbooks. he smiled and motioned toward the table. "that must be yours then?" he smirked.
he hated all the work that th school gave them, but then again who didn't? it wasn't exactly that he was a bad student. he usually got extremely good grades and his grandfather used to say "that's boy's as sharp a a horse whip, he is..." and for the most part, without bragging or feeling very proud of himself, christian had to admit it was true. he just hated the ridiculous amount of work he and his friends were given.
christian thanked the lady at the counter as she came back with a good hot americano, and christian paid her appropriately with the exact amount.once he had gotten his coffee, he turned to emma whom he smiled at and stood in front of. "so what is your excuse for getting up so early as well? ...studying for a major exam or something?" he said motioning to her books.

"Hey, I get up early too." Emma teased with a roll of her eyes and a laugh, celery green eyes resting back on the textbooks. "Yeah, I kind of took over the place." She responded casually with an adorable wrinkle of her nose, and another laugh. "Not exactly a major exam, but yeah. Something like that. Besides, I couldn't sleep either." She responded, leaving it just at that. Nightmares and the dark didn't add up well with Emma, so she just left the room early and came to the cafe with her entire studies.
She bit her lip lightly as she walked back to the love seat, moving a few of the books to the table again as she broke off a piece of the blueberry scone, eating it quietly. "Hungry?" She asked, holding up the plate of food to offer him some, with a small smile. She'd only been here for about thirty minutes before someone else finally showed up, so she was glad for company, to say the least. I mean, how lame was it to be studying in a cafe early in the morning.

christian smirked as emma rolled her eyes and he simply nudged her gently with his shoulder. he looked over at the table she had occupied with his dark brown eyes and smiled. that was really the cool thing about cafes though. you could do whatever and still it would be peaceful because no one would come up and bother you. it was sometimes and good place to just sit and relax after school days as well. christian had always been glad that there had been a cafe like this in town even amongall the other buy buildings. "oh, that's cool. i was up all night with my guitar, just trying to write something new..." he smiled, then he noticed he didn'tsee her drink anywhere. "umm..can i get you something to drink?" he asked, looking around for her drink.
as she started to walk over to the table, christian followed her with a small grin upon his face and pt down his americano to help her clear away some of her textbooks. "here, i can help...god, you must be busy."he said. "those junior classes are pains in the ass, huh?" he said as he remembered what it had been like for him last year. hell. that was all that needed to be said toexplain what last year had been like for him.
when eveything was cleared christian sat himself next to her in his seat at the table, bringing his cup closer to himself. as he settled himself into the seat, emma offered the plate of food and christian's gut made a noise. he had gone to bed after a night out last night and had forgetten to eat the dinner his stepmom had left in the microwave for him.that was how cluless he was after a night out with his friends. he took half of a blueberry scone and set it on a napkin in front of him "Thanks." he grinned. He looked over at her and smiled, since he hadn't talked with her i quite a while. "you look good emma...what've you been doing?"

Emma let out a light laugh as she heard Christian's gut make a noise, a small smile on her features as he took the scone. "Anytime," She responded casually, pushing the plate to the other side of the table with a light sigh. "Oh, no thanks, I have tea." She said with a laugh, clearing a few papers away to reveal the half-drank cup of tea underneath her books. It was pretty cold by this point now, she'd probably get a fresh cup soon.
She smiled and let a light blush cover her high set cheekbones from his remark, shrugging casually as she brushed a strand of light blonde hair behind her ear slowly. "Studying. Working out. Chilling. The usual." She said playfully, head tilting to the side softly when he mentioned guitar. "Yeah, junior year is killing me." She mumbled, with a shake of her head. Though not many knew her grades were slipping, her normal As dropping down to to Bs just from the stress of all of her classes. "I'm just hoping to get through it, you know?" She asked, nose scrunching up again.
"Oh, your guitar again? I still hate you for being able to play, my hand eye coordination is next to zero." She said with a light laugh, and a shake of her head.

"sorry.." christian's face turned a little red but besides that, he didn't really mind. he bit into the scone and eat some of it while she pushed the plate anyway. he swallowed as she showed him her own cup of tea and he smiled, nodding. "oh" he smirked as he took a sip of his americano. delicious. whre would the world be without coffee? well, christian knew that he wouldn't be as awake most mornings, and lots of other people in the world as well.
christian grinned as he started to notice that emma's cheeks were turning red. he didn't mind but it made her look pretty anyway. christian listened to her and understood that she was probably swamped with work at this point during the year. it sucked to be a student. christian titled his head to the side and gave her a soft look. "well, if you ever need..like..a study friend or something along those lines...i'm always here to help you out" he said softly as he took another silent sip of his hot americano. he was a pretty good friend, but he really did want to help emma out, since she was really one of the only girls who were brave enough to talk to him without getting nervous or thinking he was a freak.
christian nodded his head again, setting down his americano on the table in front of them. "yeah." he grinned. he said, laughing lightly as she said she hated him for playing the guitar. "ahh..it's not that hard after a while..you have to get used to it...writing your own music...now that's the real fun of it." he said, his mocha brown eyes gazing down at her green pair.

Emma let out a light laugh at his first remark, giving a shake of her head as she leaned over, pressing her soft lips to his cheek for a moment. "You're so adorable." She teased playfully, shooting him a grin before leaning back against the couch and taking a small drink o fher tea.
"Oh, thanks. I might take you up on that... art history is killing me." She told him, motioning to the book full of art before biting down on her lower lip and turning back to face him. "I still can't believe you write your own music... I can't even play an instrument. Like, I can't even whistle." She said with a laugh, nose scrunching up for a moment before letting out a sigh. She looked up and into his eyes for a moment before turning away, setting her cup of tea back down on the table in front of her.
"Do you like astronomy? Like, do you ever just go out and look at the stars?" She asked in a soft tone, turning back as she looked up into his eyes, as if reading them for an answer.

christian felt a warm smile spread across his face as she kissed him cheek gently and his face turned a little red, but his cough and glance away from her was a good attempt to cover that all up shyly. he smiled back at emma as she leaned back against the couh and her took another warm sip of his hot drink.
christian smirked and nodded while he picked up a plastic sthingy on the table and started stirring his drink around in his cup. "Well" he said smockly, "I know how to get around that old art history teacher...she'd always gush about me in front of my parents...it was embaressing"he bit his lips and then looked up from his drink to emma and the shrugged his shoulders with a laugh. "well, neither can i" he smiled, then pursing his lips into a small hole, but whn he blew no sound came out. he stopped and shook his head. "i'm still learning though" he winked as he sat back in his seat.
christian first cocked one eyebrow at what she said, but then remembered before his parents, his real parents, had died in that car accident. that's he and his dad would do all the time, since his dad was a bit of a science nerd back then. He smiled as his thoughts returned to him and he nodded his head with a soft grin. "yeah. i do like that..." he answered his eyes looking back at hers.

Emma let out a light laugh as Christian attempted to whistle, his actions comforting her slightly. "Mm. I use to take my sister out to look at the stars all of the time." She mumbled, biting down on her lower lip after she spoke, celery green eyes tearing away from his own with a gentle sigh. She raked her fingers through her long, blonde locks of hair before reaching for her tea and taking another small drink. "I'm going to get some more." She mumbled, standing up and ruffling his hair playfully before walking past him and to the counter, getting a refill of her tea.
While there, she leaned against the counter, eyes focused on the wall as she sighed, thoughts of her sister flooding back to her, along with the guilt of not being there for her closest friend. She forced a smile and paid for her tea after it came back out, walking back and sitting next to her friend, raising the cup to her lips and taking a small drink of the incredibly hot liquid.
"That art history teacher hates me." She responded softly with a laugh and a shake of her head, obviously attempting to change the subject.

christian took another sip of americano as she spoke. He was about to reply to her comment when got up and walked away from the table with her cup, ruffling his spikey hair has she went by. "alright." christian smiled and chuckled softly and then looked down into the brown liquid sitting there in his cup. his mind started to slowly slip away as he drifted into his own thoughts. had he really managed to put his parents' tragic death behind him? would his stepparents ever understand why he was shy and quiet most of the time? did they even know the real reasons?
christian slowly stirred his drink around with his little plastic sthingy as these thoughts ran over and over again in his head. why did the memories of his parentskeep coming back...it made no sense since they had died quite a while ago...maybe christian didn't know it, but he could be depressed. then again, that was a common excuse for people hs age to excuse unsocial behavior. it couldn't be depression. he appreciated living his life too much anyway.
christian snapped back out of his personal train of thought when he heard emma stone's voice in his ears again. she had gotten her refill and now sat back down where she had been at their table before. christian shook his head and laughed softly. "ahh...don't worry..she's kind of an old hag..but just don't let her know i told you so" he winked.
