Beth was always the quiet girl who followed her twin brother, Ben, around. Until she entered High School, she had very few friends of her own; all were friends of her and her brother. Then, Beth got involved with Drama and such at her school. Dancing was her true passion, but she enjoyed acting and singing as well, and began to feel as if she had found her place. Finally, she was breaking free from her brother, becoming her own person. Still extremely shy around those she did not know well, Beth began making her own friends and enjoying the time she spent apart from her brother.
Nate met Ben met in Kindergarden, and have been friends since. They may not be the best of friends, but they've always hung around when they have nothing to do. During the summers, they would, and still do, go play different sports outdoors. At school, Nate tended to hang around Ben, though Ben was fairly "popular" and very outgoing, and Nate was more relaxed and comfortable with the people he knew. Nate didn't bother to get to know the tons of people Ben hung out with, unless those people made an effort to talk to him. He was more easy-going than Ben, and didn't worry about how others saw him. Nate could be comfortable and happy almost anywhere.
Because Beth tagged along behind her brother wherever he went when the two were young, Beth met Nate when Ben did. She hadn't said much other than a soft hello and her name, for she was even more nervous and shy than she is now. Nate had noticed the small girl hiding behind his new friend, and wondered why she was so afraid of him. Over the years, from elementary school to middle school, Beth only saw Nate when he was hanging out with her brother. That is, until they entered high school.
Beth had only a few friends when she began her freshman year. In one of her classes, Beth did not have any friends, and so she sat alone until someone sat beside her. Ben's good friend Nate shared the class with her, and he was not good friends with any of the others in the class either. From there, their friendship escalated. Over time, Beth came to think of Nate as one of her closest friends. Not only did their friendship grow, but Beth soon realized that she liked Nate a lot. She was too afraid to say anything to him about it, and decided she never would. She hoped that it was simply a crush that would fade over time. So far, it hasn't.
What will happen? Though the two have only a friendship now, will it grow into something more? Or will Beth's fears keep anything from happening between her and Nate?
