overall:
In general, Dakota has an appearance that isn't uncommon these days. With a slender figure consisting up a flat stomach, toned, slim legs, and tiny arms which many people think hold no muscle whatsoever, Dakota isn't extremely different from all those other girls. And unlike most, Dakota isn't on a diet or has an eating disorder. Hellz no. Instead, Dakota just takes care of herself - attempting to eat healthy and exercising when she can. It's something simple anyone could do if they put their mind to it.
According to Dakota, the best feature of her appearance would have to be those killer blue eyes of hers'. They're easy to see, and stick out even more with her hair being the dark color of black. Sometimes it's the first thing many people see on Dakota, and sometimes it's the thing people can't stop looking at because her eyes are so intense to them. Whatever you think about them, whatever your friend thinks about them, Dakota won't care, because her eyes are kinda sorta amazing in her view. And that's what matters, right? (:
{personality}
general:
Like most everybody, Dakota's personality differs on what kind of mood she's in at the time. But luckily, for enemies or friends, how Dakota rubs off on them can be caught the same whenever you're with her. Enemies? Dakota prefers to avoid them. If she doesn't like them, why would she waste her time looking for someone she doesn't care about? It's pointless, and according to Dakota, she has things better to do than to go look for her enemies like a desperate loser. (: I know, she's a bit harsh at times, but it's gotta get worse before it gets better, right?
As for friends of Dakota, she's a completely different person. Caring, understanding, and outgoing are three words that describe the friendly Dakota. If the girl likes you, and you have a problem or something that's bugging you, she's all ears. People have told Dakota she should be a shrink multiple times, actually. Dakota blows them off though. Shrinks kinda sorta freak her out, to be honest.
So, all in all, Dakota's your typical teenager when it comes to her personality. She acts like a drunken idiot whenever she's bored or really tired, smiles a little too much when she's happy, is dead silent when she's sad or when something is bugging her, bites on her lower lip when she's nervous or uncomfortable, and likes to have a good time without having to worry about things. And if you don't like it, then get outta her way. :]

history:
Born to a high school couple, Emmaline and Alexander, Dakota Laurence's life wasn't one that was planned on for months. I guess because of this, Emmaline and Alexander had no idea what to do with the new born once she was able to be sent home. Emmaline had school work to catch up on, only being a junior in high school, and Alexander was busy getting in college applications, seeing how he was a senior.
After being debating for awhile, Dakota was soon sent to live with her Grandmother. I know, usually, high schoolers are still living with their parents. But Alexander's parents wanted to teach him responsibility, so they gave him an apartment of his own - which you see how good that did him. And as for Emmaline, her parents disowned her when they found out she was pregnant, so she left to live with Alexander.
Dakota's childhood wasn't one that was out of the ordinary. She learned to talk, walk, and grew like any normal kid did. She lived with her Grandmother, Alexander's Mom, until she was six years old. By that time, Emmaline was able to get a decent job - beginning to work at Google(:, and Alexander was fulfilling his dream of being a lawyer. Despite being separated from her parents most of her life, Dakota always had Alexander's and Emmaline's love - no matter what choice she made or what she did. And no matter what, it always felt like they were right by her side.
That was until one night when Dakota was thirteen. Alexander and Emmaline were out on a date, trying to keep their marriage young and romantic, I guess, and Dakota was left home alone. No big deal, really, until Emmaline and Alexander came home - both of them drunk. Emmaline, always being the one to use her head, took an Aspirin, drank some coffee, and then went to bed. Alexander, on the other hand, called up some friends to come over and get drunk with him, wanting to keep his partying mood alive as long as he possibly could. And drunk guys usually ended up with a stupid mistake and regrets - and this ended with a huge one. Dakota got raped by one of Alexander's friends, but that wasn't as bad as the fact that Alexander had encouraged his friend to do it all along.
Because of what happened that night, Dakota easily hated her Dad. Wouldn't you have? She refused to talk to him, even though Alexander tried countless times to talk to her. In fact, he was so frustrated once that he even slapped his own daughter across her jaw. Alexander had always had an easy temper, and Dakota wasn't helping anything at all. She wouldn't speak to him, wouldn't look at him, wouldn't even talk about him to anyone else. This caused her putting a wall up between her and most people, and Dakota's stubborn side only grew stronger.
Nowadays, Dakota and Alexander still aren't talking, but Dakota's gotten over it. Alexander, on the other hand, hasn't. And for this reason, Dakota moved to Northshore, California to live with her Aunt and Uncle - they were just another young couple, but her Aunt and Uncle didn't come home drunk, didn't hit her or abuse her in any way { verbal or physical }, and cared about Dakota like Alexander should have. In fact, her Aunt and Uncle are the closest thing to parents Dakota's ever had.

roleplay sample: it's from another site.
Dakota's frown was soon replaced with a small grin, hearing Raymond release a laugh. It was comforting hearing the male laugh, even if she met him less than an hour ago. His laugh made everything else in the world go away so she could focus on Raymond, herself, and the current moment they were in. Cheesy, but all at the same time that's what teeangers today are supposed to be. Cheesy and easy to fall for someone. Well, aren't they?
"Like the song?" Dakota questioned softly, giggling a bit afterwards. Alright, so, I guess we all know who gets the prize of being the most ditzy girl of the night - Dakota. But, she couldn't help it. Dakota was just being Dakota - random, childish, and yet adorable and hard to resist all at the same time. It was the person she was used to being, and it was the person she wanted to be for the rest of her life. I mean, if she changed, life wouldn't be the same. It'd just be boring, dull, and upsetting.
Feeling Raymond's next moves sent a couple of chills shooting up her spine, in pleasure, of course. His hand against her stomach felt freezing cold, but all at the same time she didn't want him to stop. But maybe that was the problem. "I can't..." Dakota mumbled, squeezing shut her eyes afterwards while crinkling up her nose at the same time - yet another infamous adorable Dakota pose. Why in the world was she turning Raymond away? Because. I mean, Dakota didn't mind making out with a complete stranger who just happened to be hot and a good kisser, but if all he was looking for was a girl to make out with every now and then, what was the point? Besides, she didn't even know his last name.(:
